Our mission as a band is to pick up where Gil Evans, Miles Davis, Jimi Hendrix, Jaco Pastorius, and Rashied Ali left the notes on the page.

The band features a floating roster of master jazz musicians performing original compositions by Miles Evans and Richard Rice as well as Gil Evans' arrangements of Hendrix, The Beatles and Buddy Miles, to name a few.

In 1969, Miles Davis released "In a Silent Way" with upcoming superstars Herbie Hancock, Chick Corea, Wayne Shorter and Joe Zawinal. We believe this was the beginning (PERIOD)

When Gil Evans collaborated with Miles Davis, they set the bar for innovation. In 1969, when they independently released albums with electric instruments, they changed jazz forever. Later, when Gil Evans worked with David Bowie, Elvis Costello and Sting, he showed the world how to combine jazz arrangements with rock n roll. Gil Evans and Jimi Hendrix were scheduled to record an album together in October 1970. Tragically, Jimi Hendrix died September 18. Gil had, however, finished arranging several Hendrix tunes that were set to be part of the recording: Little Wing, Stone Free, Up from the Skies, and Castles Made of Sand. We feel that had these recordings taken place music as we know it would be dramatically different.
